Technical Guidance for the Riff

Start  by playing the 5th fret with your middle finger. This allows you to play fret 4 without making a position shift.

The song starts on beat 2 – so if you’re playing with a band, the drummer would count in as follows:

1  2  3  4  1  [play]

For the second measure, you’ll need to play the 3rd fret with the middle finger. Use the time when playing open strings to make the shift.

You can glance at your fret markers if you’re not confident making position shifts without looking.

During the open string note (measure 2, note 3), shift up to fret 5 with your middle finger.
